Original 7th Gen Sunglasses Compartment Modification

First completed Mod: 5.8" 16:9 LCD hangs below compartment floor, so cutouts were made on L&R sides

Notice IR receiver sticking out on the right side of the screen (silver square w/dot in the center)

Modified Console w/LCD Bezel in place - Note: Top of Bezel must clear the Lid's Arm (removed)

L&R cutouts let you see the bottom of screen which hangs below the bottom of the compartment

First Attempted Mod: Notice LCD Bezel is flush with top of compartment

Final Mod: (photochoped) I eventually cutout the roof and pushed the LCD thru it to see more screen

I drove around with my first Mod attempt for awhile (LCD bezel flush with top of compartment) but from the driver's viewing angle, too much of the bottom of the screen was missing. I decided to go ahead and cutout the compartment's roof so I could push the LCD up thru it and raise the bottom of the screen out of the hole. This made a big difference, but I still had to keep the cutouts to see all of the lower portion of the screen.

Eventually I hooked up with our Celica mates in the UK and had the real JDM Upper Console imported, then mounted a new 5.8" 16:9 LCD behind it which fit perfectly without obscuring anything.
